PREFACE

The current issue of the Georeview scientific journal includes part of the works of the 3rd edition of the “Atmosphere and Hydrosphere” International Conference (conference website: http://atlas.usv.ro/www/simpozioane/2018/). The conference was organized by the Department of Geography (Faculty of History and Geography) of Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, at Vatra Dornei between 04th and 07th October, 2018. The scientific manifestation was dedicated to the balneary-climatic tourism and the main directions of discussion were: applied climatology and hydrology in the field of health tourism, biometeorology and bioclimatology, balneology, balneary-climatic tourism, economy and management of health tourism, kinesiotherapy and health tourism, forest and human health. The USV Vatra Dornei base provided favorable working conditions and discussions for over 50 specialists present at Vatra Dornei during the event. Present specialists, professors and researchers in the fields of geography, economics, biology, medicine, balneoclimatology, ecology, public administration, business management etc. have represented prestigious academic and research institutions in Romania, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova and Germany. The Conference program was very focused. On the first day, 22 papers that were included in the program were presented in plenary. Questions were asked, discussions were held, appreciations were made and valuable conclusions were drawn for the topics addressed. The atmosphere was constructive, generating complex analyses, providing valuable conclusions. The next day was devoted to a field trip about balneoclimatology which had as main focus the resort of Cacica. The participants discovered the actual geographic details of Bucovina and enjoyed the wonderful landscapes on the Vatra Dornei - Moldoviţa - Ciumârna - Sucevița - Marginea - Cacica - Gura Humorului - Mestecăniș - Vatra Dornei route. It was a day of valuable exchanges of ideas and for shaping the directions to be followed in the future for the development of balneary-climatic tourism in this part of Romania. On the third day of the Conference, the participants made a working visit to the Bradul-Călimani Spa Complex in Vatra Dornei and went through the resort, enjoying the tranquility and the scent of a sunny autumn Sunday. The conference organizers thank Ștefan cel Mare University for making available for one week the entire base at Vatra Dornei and they also thank EGGER Romania SRL and AQUA Carpatica that sponsored this event. We thank the participants and the institutions that supported the event. We plan to organize this conference again in one year to present our most valuable research in the field of balneoclimatology.
